The Liberty Life Post Corporation Records consist of booklets, correspondence, financial reports and statements, manuals, memoranda, minutes of meetings, legal documents, oversize blueprints and posters, photographs, reports, and speeches. They span the time period from 1962-1992, with the bulk of the records dating from 1968-1988. The records document the history of Liberty Life Insurance Company's development and expansion as a subsidiary of The Liberty Corporation from 1967-1990. The Administrative Files series contain primarily of materials related to different aspects of the insurance business. Financial records document how the insurance company progressed financially from 1968-1987. Material on strategic planning can be found in this series, as well as analyses of insurance operations, employee opinion surveys, examination reports, and long-range plans. The minutes of meetings of the Executive Committee, which cover such topics as acquisitions and reorganization, are filed in this series. There is information on direct mail underwriting for life insurance and hospital coverage, speeches from various conferences and meetings, and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, with whom Liberty Life sponsored an annual scholarship. Committees and Task Forces series consist of a variety of financial reports and statements, memoranda, minutes of meetings, and reports related to a number of different committees and task forces. Majority of the material in this series is from the Finance and Investment Committees, which record how the executives handled the business transactions and investments of Liberty Life Insurance Company. Records of the Management Committee document what topics -- such as mergers, policy loan interest rates, insurance plans, and costs -- affecting the company its executives discussed. In addition, there are files dealing with routine company policies and procedures regarding insurance, as well as all phases of marketing and maintaining competitive products. Also included are records concerning issues and programs related to employees, and the daily operations and procedures of the insurance company.
